Adam Lambert's Fantasy Springs' Concert

By 12:30 p.m. Friday tickets for “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert's Fantasy Springs Feb. 27 concert were selling at brisk pace.

By the end of the day, ticket sales were approaching sell-out status.

Lambert is the “American Idol” contestant who lost out to Kris Allen in the May finale of the show, but since has charged ahead of his competitor when it comes to popularity.

By 7 p.m., more than 1,400 tickets had been purchased and the resort's hotel had no rooms available for the night of the Feb. 27 show, according to Fantasy Springs public relations manager Ciara Green.

“And the calls are still coming in from around the world,” Green said in an update.

Those hoping to find a nearby room were calling the Holiday Inn Express down the road, she said, but Green had no information on whether that hotel had any availability for the Feb. 27 date.

The box office phone lines remained busy all day with callers jamming the lines from the 10 a.m. opening time, she added.

Ticket-buyers began lining up at the Special Events Center box office as early as 6:15 a.m., nearly four hours before the tickets went on sale.

One woman from Orange County and another from San Diego, had each driven to the Indio casino to purchase their tickets at the box office.

“They said they had friends coming from New York and other parts of the East Coast for Adam Lambert's show,” said Green.

“I talked to a woman who was waiting at the box office this morning before it opened and she said she opened up (The Desert Sun), saw the info about the concert and ran, well drove, right down here,” Green said.

The hotel, she said, had been fielding calls throughout the night from callers as far away as Taiwan.

Phone traffic was “extremely busy all day,” with operators recommending that people log on to fantasyspringsresort.com to purchase tickets, Green said. “That way, they will not have to wait on hold for an untold amount of time.”

Fantasy Springs Resort Casino is at 84-245 Indio Springs Parkway.

Adam Lambert Moving Up the Billboard Charts

American Idol's Adam Lambert climbs the Billboard charts, not quite surpassing Kris Allen. Adam Lambert recently got a lot of great press (or bad press, depending on how you look at it...) when he had his little man-on-man action live on stage on network television during the American Music Awards. Still yet, the controversy surrounding his performance hasn't stunted his popularity, and Lambert is finding his way up the charts.

Kris Allen, on the other hand, hasn't been so lucky with the ratings. His song "Live Like We're Dying" recently dropped from #25 to #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Lambert's hit "What do you Want from Me" climbed to the #37 spot, up from the #55 slot last week.

The former American Idol stars finished last season at the #1 and #2 spots, with Lambert trailing Kris Allen. There was a lot of controversy over whether or not the openly gay singer should have been the winner or not.

So why has Lambert skyrocketed up the charts at seemingly record speed? It could be that he performed on Oprah. In addition, this Sunday he will be at the Grammy awards.

Late last year, after the American Music Awards it was the first time I ever really listened to or paid attention to his music. What made me really respect him is that he didn't back down from his artistic decisions he made while on stage.

Many in his position would have apologized in light of FCC heat and also outraged parents and fans. The former American Idol contestant, on the other hand, didn't apologize and even made it known that he thought that what he did was perfectly acceptable.

For those outraged at their children being exposed to his overtly sexual antics, he informed the world that he's not a babysitter, and that it's up to parents to monitor what their children think.

The performer has had many TV appearances and continues to have a strong fan base. His fans are likely excited that he will be critiquing fashion at the Grammys this weekend. He will serve as a fashion consultant for Entertainment Tonight, although he promises that he won't be mean about what people wear on the red carpet.

Adam Lambert performed the song Strut from his debut CD For Your Entertainment on the Ellen DeGeneres Show today (Jan. 26).Today's show was also a celebration for Ellen's birthday. Ellen, the newest host of American Idol, came out on the show wearing her birthday suit - which was a rockin' little grey number with a black vest.

Lambert wore his sparkling NYE Gridlock jacket for the performance. He knew Ellen has been raising funds for Haiti relief efforts and offered a special signed portrait and a signed pair of Ellen underwear to be auctioned -- with proceeds to benefit the Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. With more than nine days left until the end of the auction, as of 1:57 pm (PST) the current bid price is $1,525.00.

Adam Lambert tweets- Drake and I are not back together

Adam Lambert has denied that he is back with ex boyfriend Drake LaBry.

Reports this week claimed the American Idol star was romancing his former beau - just three months after they announced their split last year.

An eyewitness said: "[Adam and Drake] were sitting at a private table with friends, but the two of them could not keep their hands off of each other.

"Drake was stroking Adam's leg, and Adam could barely take his eyes off of him. They both seemed to be in a great mood and were keeping more to themselves instead of mingling with nearby friends."

But writing on Twitter, Lambert has since rubbished the story, telling his followers: "Oh jeez. More rumor mill: Drake and I are not back together. We have allowed a great friendship to grow since our split."

I hear ex sex is the best. Just sayin'

Adam Lambert goes on the record

Adam Lambert may have had a few issues with ABC recently, but there's one television network that is happy to welcome the American Idol runner-up to its headquarters:

Fuse TV.

The singer will appear on that channel's On the Record tomorrow night. We've gotten a sneak peek at his interview and posted excerpts from it below:

On middle school: “[It] was kind of an isolated time. I mean the only social outlet I really had was theater and that was one day a week. I was in a children's theater group on Saturdays and that was really my social group. That was the one place where I felt like there were other kids like me.”

On coming out as gay: “It’s funny …This whole thing, talking about coming out. I don’t even think about it anymore until all of this started happening with my career. And it’s interesting now, because I am open and visible. I suppose it is important to talk about it, but the past eight or nine years of my life I haven’t thought twice about it, it’s just who I am.”

Talking to the Press

It sounds like Oprah Winfrey fans will soon hear a lot more from Lambert, as well.
