First of all, just being a Top 10 finalist on American Idol guarantees income from union contract appearance fees that bring in $1,000 to $2,000 a week. That's because the competition tunes they sing on the show are picked up by iTunes and the songs they sing in the opening number on the results show are covered by AFTRA rules.

In addition, the Top 10 go out on a national tour that is steadily increasing in revenue and last year Randy Jackson revealed the number is up to about $250,000 - each.

Winning American Idol guarantees a million dollar recording contract when endorsements and advances are figured in. Record sales above that bring in even more cash.

But Adam Lambert didn't win American Idol.

No worries. According to The New York Times, "the winner is not the only contestant who earns after the show. OK... so far that's $425K, PLUS the estimated $250K for the tour... that means that by being the runner up on Idol Adam Lambert earned an estimated $675,000 bucks!

This past year since AI ended Adam has enjoyed spectacular record sales and he has launched his first "GlamNation" tour that's been steadily adding dates and causing other tracks on the album to pick up steam and add to his revenue stream.

Brace yourselves, Adam Lambert fans: the former American Idol finalist has announced that his first North American tour will be called 'Glam Nation'. The opening acts for the show with be Orianthi, and Allison Iraheta.

Lambert took to Twitter to make the announcement. He writes: "The Glam Nation Tour dates will be announced soon! For those who didn't know, my opening acts are Orianthi and Allison Iraheta!!!"

Adam Lambert told Ryan Seacrest in an interview after his performance on American Idol: "I am working on it right now. I am actually about to leave on Sunday for three weeks to go over to the U.K. I go over there. My album is coming out, I'm so excited to do some TV shows and promo out there. All over Europe, it has been a really good response. Then I come back, and right away I start rehearsals for my first North American tour. " Lambert says of his idea for the shows: "I want it to be atmospheric. I want it to feel like you are somewhere else. I want it to transport people. I can tell you right now that it is going to be called Glam Nation. And it is going to be very glittery and sparkly, but it is going to have that mystery and the mood and the sexy and the celebration. I think the fans are going to be in for a real treat."

By 12:30 p.m. Friday tickets for “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert's Fantasy Springs Feb. 27 concert were selling at brisk pace.

By the end of the day, ticket sales were approaching sell-out status.

Lambert is the “American Idol” contestant who lost out to Kris Allen in the May finale of the show, but since has charged ahead of his competitor when it comes to popularity.

By 7 p.m., more than 1,400 tickets had been purchased and the resort's hotel had no rooms available for the night of the Feb. 27 show, according to Fantasy Springs public relations manager Ciara Green.

“And the calls are still coming in from around the world,” Green said in an update.

Those hoping to find a nearby room were calling the Holiday Inn Express down the road, she said, but Green had no information on whether that hotel had any availability for the Feb. 27 date.

The box office phone lines remained busy all day with callers jamming the lines from the 10 a.m. opening time, she added.

Ticket-buyers began lining up at the Special Events Center box office as early as 6:15 a.m., nearly four hours before the tickets went on sale.

One woman from Orange County and another from San Diego, had each driven to the Indio casino to purchase their tickets at the box office.

“They said they had friends coming from New York and other parts of the East Coast for Adam Lambert's show,” said Green.

“I talked to a woman who was waiting at the box office this morning before it opened and she said she opened up (The Desert Sun), saw the info about the concert and ran, well drove, right down here,” Green said.

The hotel, she said, had been fielding calls throughout the night from callers as far away as Taiwan.

Phone traffic was “extremely busy all day,” with operators recommending that people log on to fantasyspringsresort.com to purchase tickets, Green said. “That way, they will not have to wait on hold for an untold amount of time.”

Adam Lambert Moving Up the Billboard Charts

American Idol's Adam Lambert climbs the Billboard charts, not quite surpassing Kris Allen. Adam Lambert recently got a lot of great press (or bad press, depending on how you look at it...) when he had his little man-on-man action live on stage on network television during the American Music Awards. Still yet, the controversy surrounding his performance hasn't stunted his popularity, and Lambert is finding his way up the charts.

Kris Allen, on the other hand, hasn't been so lucky with the ratings. His song "Live Like We're Dying" recently dropped from #25 to #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Lambert's hit "What do you Want from Me" climbed to the #37 spot, up from the #55 slot last week.

The former American Idol stars finished last season at the #1 and #2 spots, with Lambert trailing Kris Allen. There was a lot of controversy over whether or not the openly gay singer should have been the winner or not.

So why has Lambert skyrocketed up the charts at seemingly record speed? It could be that he performed on Oprah. In addition, this Sunday he will be at the Grammy awards.

Late last year, after the American Music Awards it was the first time I ever really listened to or paid attention to his music. What made me really respect him is that he didn't back down from his artistic decisions he made while on stage.

Many in his position would have apologized in light of FCC heat and also outraged parents and fans. The former American Idol contestant, on the other hand, didn't apologize and even made it known that he thought that what he did was perfectly acceptable.

For those outraged at their children being exposed to his overtly sexual antics, he informed the world that he's not a babysitter, and that it's up to parents to monitor what their children think.

The performer has had many TV appearances and continues to have a strong fan base. His fans are likely excited that he will be critiquing fashion at the Grammys this weekend. He will serve as a fashion consultant for Entertainment Tonight, although he promises that he won't be mean about what people wear on the red carpet.

'Whataya Want From Me' video premiere this Friday

Adam Lambert recently tweeted about the premiere date of his upcoming "Whataya Want From Me" music video. " 'Whataya Want From Me' music video set to premiere between 6am-10am on Friday [January 15] morning on VH1," he wrote.

Adam filmed the video back in December 2009. It reportedly will feature the "American Idol" alum when he is being followed by paparazzi and his fans. One of the extras, an aspiring actress named Julianna Milton, will play a female fan who is too young to get into the club.

"Whataya Want From Me" is the second single from Adam Lambert's debut album "For Your Entertainment". A follow-up to the title track, the song started to get heavy promotion and was performed by Adam during his appearances on major events and TV shows right after his controversial American Music Awards performance.

Adam Lambert will soon reunite with Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta for aconcert in New York after the city got the most demands on Ryan Seacrest's "Ryan Rock My Town!" online voting. The concert is planned to be free of charge with its venue and date are still to be determined.

On coming out as gay: “It’s funny …This whole thing, talking about coming out. I don’t even think about it anymore until all of this started happening with my career. And it’s interesting now, because I am open and visible. I suppose it is important to talk about it, but the past eight or nine years of my life I haven’t thought twice about it, it’s just who I am.”

It sounds like Oprah Winfrey fans will soon hear a lot more from Lambert, as well.

With many fans eager to hear music from their favorite glam rocker on the radio, Adam Lambert took to Twitter and MySpace to ask his die-hard fans not to bombard radio stations with requests, because he fears the results might have an opposite effect. Here in Vancouver, Virgin Radio 95.3 is regularly playing both For Your Entertainment and Whataya Want From Me from the debut CD, but some other Canadian cities haven't become Glamberts just yet. Similar situations are found throughout the US markets, with areas of the country playing the songs, while others won't. "Hey guys!! I love that you want to support my music and call in requests, but please be mindful of them," Lambert wrote. "Open House Party is a great supporter of my songs, but when there is an organized group of fans calling stations it becomes obvious to those stations what is going on and it understandably upsets them. Many stations can track over-use of requests and fraudulent requests and I would hate to lose their support. I love all of your support and let's keep my songs rockin!"

Adam Lambert is getting some more play on the radio with "Whataya Want from Me" now that the holidays are over; according to USA Today's "American Idol" airplay chart in conjunction with Mediabase, Lambert's new song gained in total spins, finishing the week with 1,890.

Of course, one oddity immediately sticks out like a sore thumb on this list: if Adam gained in total airplay, then why did he move down on the list? It's simply because everybody else moved up, and some of Adam's competition includes popular musicians asKelly Clarkson and Daughtry.

"Whataya Want From Me" will now get a greater chance to expands its audience in the coming weeks; unlike some other songs (such as Clarkson's "Already Gone"), Lambert's single had not been on the charts exceptionally long prior to the holidays.

Lady Gaga was recently confronted by a fan after a concert in an Ottawa club for being friends with openly gay 'American Idol' starAdam Lambert.

According to the National Enquirer Lady Gaga was partying with friends when a drunken man confronted her saying; “I saw you and Adam Lambert on the AMA show, and the guy’s a flaming {explicit} — and I also think that you’re actually a man!”

Reportedly Gaga fired back: “Well, that’s your opinion, isn’t it? And I’m not about to waste my time trying to change it.”

The angry fan yelled back: “Well, don’t you care that you’re both going to hell!” Lady Gaga then looked at him and said; “No…not as long as I don’t have to see your face there!”

The intoxicated man replied; “Well You're a freak and so is he!" Before Gaga left she stated; “Okay, that’s it! Adam Lambert is going to perform on New York City’s stage with his fellow “American Idol” alum, Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen after the Big Apple became the city with the most demand for the reunion concert. NYC took the lead in Ryan Seacrest’s “Ryan, Rock My Town” contest. The details of the venue and the date of the concert are yet to be disclosed but it will be announced soon on Seacrest website.

This free gig is going to be the first reunion concert for Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen after the post 2009 Idol Summer Tour, which was wrapped on September 15 at Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH.

American Idol star Adam Lambert's music has yet to make a big splash, but the singer is already a pro at stirring up controversy.

His latest encounter in infamy occurred backstage at the American Music Awards,RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

Designer Shane Starlet thought Adam's AMA performance, which included simulated oral sex, was unacceptable- and she let him know it. In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com she revealed the details of their showdown, which included Adam telling her, "Shut up, b--ch!"

"He was rude, the whole night he was outrageously unacceptable because since American Idol, his career has become more about being defensive of his sexuality as opposed to his music," Starlet told RadarOnline.com.

When Lambert walked by her backstage, Starlet voiced her opinion of his performance. Starlet told RadarOnline.com that she told Adam: "Be gay, fine! But stop trying to defend it all the time, Adam. What you pulled tonight was disgraceful.

"You could have been huge but now you're no different than a Jerry Springer low-life."

Lambert responded to the critique by yelling out, "Shut up, b---h!" After having a public spat with OUT Magazine, having his Good Morning America gig cancelled, and having his American Music Awards performance censored, Lambert has been busy defending his views and in-your-face antics.

Starlet, who was often on the American Idol set, is saddened by the change in Lambert.

"It's a shame his fans don't see this behavior and everyone appeases him and says nothing so I told him about it," she told RadarOnline.com."They do

not see what we see when the cameras aren't rolling and that's unfortunate because he has tremendous talent and instead of focusing on creating beautiful music, he is more focused on creating controversy with regard to him being gay when it is truly not the issue he thinks it is."

After their verbal altercation, Lambert's team quickly rushed him out of the area before the situation could escalate further.

A rep for Lambert did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO — He had a touch of the flu and another cancellation controversy brewing. But when Adam Lambert rode his media roller coaster into San Diego yesterday, the local “American Idol” newsmaker arrived with a smile on his face and no chips on his shoulders.

In the Gaslamp Quarter to donate a costume to the Hard Rock Hotel’s memorabilia collection, Lambert shrugged off the fallout from his envelope-pushing performance on the Nov. 22 “American Music Awards.”

Yesterday, ABC canceled Lambert’s upcoming appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The network had already canceled Lambert’s post-AMA appearance on “Good Morning America,” although the singer will still be featured on Barbara Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2009” special, which airs Dec. 9 on the Disney-owned ABC.

“What’s done is done,” Lambert said. “It’s time to move forward.”

Clad in black and sporting a major ring on each hand, the Mt. Carmel High graduate said a happy goodbye to his Hard Rock donation, which featured the leather vest, jeans and homemade platform boots he wore during his performance with KISS in the “American Idol” finale in May.

“It’s obviously quite an honor,” Lambert said of joining a collection that includes items from Madonna, Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles. “I’m a new kid on the block, so I’m just excited to be asked.”

Lambert also talked of his hopes for a spring tour, and his plans to visit his father, Eber, while he was in town. Which left just enough time to visit with the 200 or so fans who came bearing cameras and unconditional love.

“He shouldn’t be blackballed from anything,” said El Cajon homemaker Audrey Wilmot. “Adam is just being Adam.”

Lady Gaga gave Adam Lambert "Fever" — the duo hooked up in the studio to record the Gaga-penned track for Lambert's album, For Your Entertainment. And for the "American Idol" alum, it wasn't just another session in the studio.

"Gaga! Working in the studio with Gaga was a trip," Lambert told MTV News about the collaboration. "The Haus of Gaga came in at the end to say hi. She was just there. We were working with her and Jeff Bhasker and we recorded the song, and she egged me on and it was crazy."

The retro-sounding disco tune definitely has a Scissor Sisters vibe to it, a revelation Lambert came to after he listened to the track when they were finished. "That was kind of like an afterthought," he said. "Once I heard it back I was like, 'God, that sounds like a Scissor Sisters song.' It's disco."

Lambert revealed that while recording the song, on which he sings such provocative lyrics as "Oh baby, your light's on/ But your mom's not home/ I'm sick of laying down alone/ With this fever," the group worked in a kind of party atmosphere. "There might have been some libations passed around, maybe," he laughed. "That's real rock and roll."

Lambert hasn't ruled out one day possibly hitting the road with the pop superstar, who recently talked about how much she liked working with him on the song.

"If she'd have me, yeah — she's amazing," he said. "I have no clue [when that would happen]. I have not heard anything about that. I think she's going off solo right now. I think she's pretty amazing. I want to be at her show," Lambert gushed.

Nothing can keep Adam Lambert down for long. Not the less-than-enthusiastic reactions to his performance on TV’s American Music Awards. And certainly not a bout with a stomach virus.

So there he was on Thursday at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, dedicating his KISS-inspired costume and killer platform boots from “American Idol’s” Season 8 Finale to the hotel’s memorabilia collection that includes items by everyone from Elvis Presley to Madonna. Adam’s costume, complete with wire “wings,” looked as if Elton John had designed it for use at a Star Trek convention.

Though not as outrageously attired, Adam seemed every inch the successful superstar during his Gaslamp appearance. We’re talking glam-rock chic, with artfully tousled black hair, black nail polish and glittery diamond rings designed by Loree Rodkin that were so huge that Liberace would have been envious. And his liberal use of guyliner highlighted those eyes that are so strikingly attractive in person.

Adam Lambert's debut album, For Your Entertainment, finally appeared on theBillboard 200 chart today at #3, moving around 225,000 copies in its first week of release, beating out debuts by Rihanna (#4),Lady Gaga (#5) and Shakira (#15). However, Susan Boyle's album, I Dreamed A Dream, made the biggest #1 debut in a decade, selling over 700,000 copies in one week.

FYE debuted at #5 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart, and was at #11 on the Canadian Album chart. The FYE single was less impressive, bowing at #61 on the Billboard Hot 100, #35 on Digital Songs, and #23 on the Canadian Hot 100.

Billboard is considered the Holy Grail of music charting, the one true measure of success or defeat for a musical artist. The fact that it has taken Adam's album this long to show up on the chart (it released November 23) has been a source of alarm and confusion among his fans. After checking out the online Billboard charts a couple of days ago and discovering that For Your Entertainment had never charted, it got me wondering. I read comments from his fans on Billboard crying censorshp for not showing his sales figures and rankings.

So, I wrote an article called Is Adam Lambert the victim of a gay witch hunt?, which started out questioning Billboard's practices, but was mostly about an anti-Adam group on Facebook trying togather one million complaints to send to the FCC for of his wild-as-hell November 22nd AMA performance.

But commenters to that article (at least initially) honed in on my "idiotic" and "untruthful" reporting about Adam's Billboard ranking. It turns out they were correct - for some reason, Billboard.com updates its charts on Thursdays, for sales that occured the previous Monday through Sunday. (Do they have to count the receipts by hand or something?)

Mea culpa, sorry for the confusion. I guess that's what I get for trusting commenters on Billboard's website.

So how is one to know how For Your Entertainment (the album) is doing without waiting for the snails-pace Billboard 200 to update? Well, it'll cost you - Billboard offers updates (not sure how frequently) of all album and singles sales through Neilsen/SoundScan, for a fee ($19.95 monthly online, $24.95 monthly online + print, or $299 yearly online + print).

As for now, Adam is sitting on a pretty high glam-God throne. People are still talking about him, and will be for quite a while. He's handled the post-AMA controversy with grace and dignity while remaining totally badass. He shows no signs of slowing down or going away quietly into the night.

He's scheduled to appear on ABC's Barbara Walter's "10 Most Fascinating People of 2009" on December 9th; however ABC's recent repeated shunning of Adam may mean that's not happening. Plus, Barbara's other guests include Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck, who may oppose to being on the same show with Adam.

Over on NBC, Adam is reportedly scheduled to appear on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien on December 14th, and then on The Jay Leno Show December 17th (after being dumped by ABC to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live that same date).

FCC heat causes ABC to cancel Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert's urging to fans not to be upset with ABC for canceling his upcoming appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" is making more sense today. On his Twitter page Wednesday night, Lambert explained "It's the FCC heat," a statement that ABC has declined to address.

The "FCC heat" comes from a complaint filed by Liberty Counsel on Nov. 24 against ABC, demanding that the network pay a financial penalty "for airing such an outrageously lewd and filthy performance during a show and time period that is targeted for family audiences."

In the complaint, Liberty contends that Lambert's Nov. 22 performance was both obscene and indecent and urges that the FCC take action against ABC. Liberty Counsel is a nonprofit public interest law firm that is closely tied to the late Rev. Jerry Falwell's Liberty University and provides legal assistance in defense of "Christian religious liberty, the sanctity of human life and the traditional family."

Although ABC did receive about 1,500 complaints from viewers about Lambert's highly sexualized performance, dozens of Lambert fans have been complaining about ABC's decision to cancel Lambert's "Good Morning America" interview and now the "Kimmel" performance. Many of those critics say Lambert is being targeted because he is a gay male, as Janet Jackson, who opened the American Music Awards, grabbed the crotch of a male dancer and went unscathed by critics.

The director of cultural affairs for Liberty Counsel told The Times today that his firm was not aware of Jackson's performance.

"The issue is not so much about homosexuality, although I believe the preponderance of Americans find public hyper-sexualized acts of homosexuality particularly off-putting," Matt Barber said. "But the issue was more of indecency and what is decency. And frankly the issue is one of law. We believe this performance met the threshold for violation of federal law and violation of FCC regulations. And the Supreme Court has held time and again that there’s not a First Amendment right to engage in public indecency as evidenced by the outcry and complaints that poured into ABC. We believe that this violated contemporary community standards in terms of what is and what isn’t decent."

But "Kimmel" airs well after 10 p.m., the cut-off time the FCC has set for when indecent material cannot be broadcast. Lambert's AMA appearance occurred at 10:55 p.m. [Updated: 12:51 p.m. It was edited for the West Coast, but the timing could be an issue in the Central Time Zone, which would have seen it at 9:55 p.m.]

"I would say this is inappropriate period," Barber said. "This is not HBO or some of these cable networks where that type of indecency and filth has come to be expected. This is television where people just flipping through channels could have stumbled onto that. People unaware of what’s coming down the pike in terms of the indecency being performed. And it’s just really, frankly, not appropriate for network television, period, to mimic one man performing oral sex on another man."

ABC executives declined to be interviewed and issued a statement that didn't explain why the network continues to disinvite Lambert from his scheduled appearances: "We decided not to move forward with the booking at this time." Lambert's publicist on Thursday declined a request for an interview with the artist but said, "We respect what [ABC] says."

ABC also canceled Lambert's appearance on "Good Morning America" last week, saying the network was concerned he would give another controversial performance "so early in the morning." During aninterview on "The Early Show" on CBS, Lambert conceded the adrenaline got the best of him on stage and the acts in question were not featured in his rehearsals.

Lambert will still appear on ABC's Barbara Walters' "The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009" on Dec. 9 at 10 p.m. presumably because there is no live performance involved.

We wonder what too far means. Are we talking too much eyeliner, or are we talking the Adam Lambert definition of too far? Which means breaking into spontaneous simulated oral sex, and shoving your tongue down the throat of the first person that meets your eye, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Lambert continued, "They are so passionate and so dedicated, and I totally, totally owe them everything so far. There's been some amazing stuff these fans have done." And that includes dressing like him. Adam said of the Idols Live Tour, "I saw some women - mostly women, but some guys, some kids - they'd come dressed up, and I love that. I think it's so cool that they are all that excited." As Adam put it, "it's the ultimate compliment."

And it really is because the way Adam dresses is pretty damn complicated. It takes a lot of work to get your eye make up perfectly smoky, your nails perfectly polished, and to squeeze into all of that tight leather. It takes way more work than say, dressing like Beyonce, where you just slap on your leotard, and don't even have to worry about putting on a pair of pants.

Lambert's AMA performance last week featured male dancers on leashes, an open-mouth kiss between Lambert and his male keyboardist, and simulated oral sex, both male-on-male and female-on-male.

MTV has admitted that Lambert's AMA performance was "one that frequently crossed the border from sexy to rather graphic, and which put some previous provocative awards-show appearances by Madonna to shame."

On "The View," Stewart admitted to not having seen Lambert's performance. When Joy Behar described it - Lambert "had a guy's head in his crotch. That was something they did not like. And he tongue-kissed ... well, I don't know if the tongues were there but he was kissing a guy. Anyway, they thought that that was off the charts" - the singer dismissed it with a shrug.

"There's nothing wrong with that. It's rock 'n' roll," said Stewart. "Alice Cooper used to have snakes and bite chickens' heads off."

After initially writing off his erotically charged appearance at the 2009 American Music Awards asenvelope-pushing showmanship, the singer is now wondering whether his performance was more for his entertainment than for yours.

"It was maybe a little too far," the 27-year-old artist admitted during a sit-down with The Ellen DeGeneres Show that airs Tuesday.

"I think in hindsight I look back on it and I go, 'OK, maybe that wasn't the best first impression to make again, the first second impression.' I mean, I had fun up there, I had a good time, my dancers had fun and the band had fun.

"I respect people and feel like people walked away from that feeling disrespected. I would never intend to disrespect anybody. So that was not my intention."

But count DeGeneres among those who believes there's a double standard on TV when it comes to male vs. female sexuality.

"My whole thing is I feel like if you're offended by a show of sexuality on stage, then you should be offended by all shows of sexuality. It should be all forms," the incoming American Idol judge said.

"I think, too, people aren't used to seeing gay man portrayed that way on TV," Lambert agreed. "The gay male image in the media tends to be very clique and safe...I was putting on a character, putting on a persona being this kind of rock star, kind of dangerous kind of guy.

"After seeing one of my favorites, Lady Gaga, tear it apart on stage...She was incredible. I don't know, something came over me and got caught up in the moment and maybe went a little too far."

And perhaps the folks at home just weren't ready to see Adam Lambert's poker face.

Lambert's dad suggested that an apology might be in order, the singer said. But he ultimately disagreed with his pops.

"I was like, 'You know, Dad, I don't feel like I did anything wrong.' It just wasn't maybe the right judgement call. It's a taste thing more than an obscenity thing. I think it's just a taste level."

And he was, in fact, bummed about Good Morning America canceling his scheduled appearance three days after the AMAs.

"I think ABC was a little bit mad at me," Lambert said.

"I don't blame them. I got carried away...They gave me a great opportunity to close the AMAs and I would never want to smack that gift horse in the mouth. I think they were taking a leap of faith having me do that and it unfortunately it didn't work out as we all thought it would."

Hence the "new direction" he's going in, starting with his performance of "Whataya Want From Me" onEllen.

"Ellen:airing 2m.Singing 'whatya want from me'!," the singer tweeted today. "AMA performance was a one time event. Goin in a new direction now. Focus back on the music...Don't worry friends: I'm still gonna be me. Always. W/o appologies. Just gonna experiment differently w how I present myself...I'm learning. :)"

OK, we think the poor guy has humbled himself enough. On with the show!

As was rumored early last week, ”American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert will indeed be one of Barbara Walters‘ 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009.
Walters confirmed his invitation on Monday’s (Nov. 30) episode of “The View,” though the poster below seems to confirm several of the annual special’s other subjects as well: Lady Gaga, Tyler Perry, Sarah Palin, Brett Favre, Kate Gosselin and Glenn Beck.
We haven’t yet received word from ABC on whether or not the poster is official. However, even if it is and this list is in fact accurate, that still leaves three open spots.
Any thoughts on who will fill them?
“Barbara Walters Presents The 10 Most Fascinating People” will air Dec. 9.

When Adam Lambert’s AMA performance scared off Good Morning America, he ended up stopping by CBS’s Early Show instead to chit chat about all the controversy. But unfortunately, that little interview stirred the pot even more when the network showed a clip of on-stage kisses and blurred Adam’s out. Guess which stars they didn’t blur out?

Madonna and Britney Spears. Remember the awkward kiss heard round the world? So this raised a few questions as to why the network was okay with that kiss and not Adam’s boy-on-boy kiss?

A CBS representative responded with this statement: “We gave this some real thought. The Madonna image is very familiar and has appeared countless times including many times on morning television. The Adam Lambert image is a subject of great current controversy, has not been nearly as widely disseminated, and for all we know, may still lead to legal consequences.”

Jarrett Barrios, President of GLAAD, remarked that this was a typical case of double standards in regard to gay male performers. “I would have hoped that CBS would provide the same treatment for images of gay and lesbian people and not create an unfair double standard that treats our community differently.”

Adam Lambert's defense of performance holds no water

I'd stand by that claim. His rendition of Mad World still occupies a proud place in my iPod.
I haven't reviewed the CD because Sony, until moments ago, had yet to send me a physical copy for review. I won't review off a stream. A download's just been made available. I will post a review of his debut CD by week's end if time permits.
But I can weigh in on the flap surrounding his tasteless, train wreckAmerican Music Awards performance. A colleague pronounced him a "black hole of charisma," meaning he was so charmless he couldn't elevate that awful, screeching song above the tawdry, desperate performance.
Former Idol finalist, Jon Peter Lewis, called Adam's AMA performance "art" a "sham." Much as I hate to agree with that little weenie (the Idolfinalist, not my colleague, altho I hate to agree with him, too) I have to agree with both of them.
And now there's a backlash, much of it centering on Adam's defense of the act and the insinuation on Twitter that ABC would be practicing "discrimination" if they were to edit his act. He's also complained of a double standard -- that women have been doing these kind of sexual gestures for years (hello, Madonna) and no one complains but when a man does so, a gay man at that, all hell breaks loose.
Good Morning America dumped Adam afterward, feeling its early morning audience and advertisers might not enjoy watching a guy jam some other musician into his crotch for simulated oral sex or French kiss another while screeching an unappetizing song like For Your Entertainment.

Adam's defense is hogwash. I find his bogus "discrimination" charge as unsavory as that performance and the song. We aren't bigots or homophobes if we refuse to accept someone on TV so desperate to sell a bad song and trite performance that they have to resort to generic sex moves to get attention.
If the song was great, Adam wouldn't have had to do the hard sell shock value. And if he had more imagination, maybe his act would have been memorable for the right reasons like Lady Gaga's earlier performance ofBad Romance.
And he's saying that women have been doing it for years and it's time for a man to get to do something raunchy or sexy? Uh, dude, I remember Prince. I remember Bowie. I still see Mick Jagger. Steven Tyler. Nothing you're doing, Adam, is defendable or new to males discovering they have sex appeal to use, too.
And then there are all the interviews he's given with Rolling Stone, Details, EW, et al where his whole focus is on his sexuality and way TMI about his previous sexual encounters in his teens and early 20s. Enough, Adam. If your music was worthwhile maybe you'd talk more about that for a change? Here's hoping the rest of the CD is.

NEW YORK — ABC’s “Good Morning America” is saying “no thanks” to Adam Lambert.

The morning show canceled the glam rocker’s scheduled performance on Wednesday’s show because of Lambert’s racy appearance on the “American Music Awards” on Sunday night. ABC said it doesn’t think Lambert’s performance would be appropriate for a morning audience.

While singing his new song “For Your Entertainment” at the awards program, Lambert kissed a male dancer, fondled another and had a dancer briefly stuff his face in Lambert’s crotch. It prompted many complaints to ABC.

But CBS quickly announced Tuesday that Lambert would appear on “The Early Show” Wednesday morning both to perform and discuss the reaction to Sunday’s appearance.

The “Good Morning America” cancellation was first reported on TVNewser and Hollywood Life Web sites.

ABC is owned by The Walt Disney Co.

This year’s American Music Awards (AMAs) were definitely controversial, but the reason had nothing to do with either Janet Jackson or Kanye West. The controversy last night came in the form of San Diego’s own Adam Lambert.

When I first heard the news that Adam was going to be the finale act at the AMAs, I was ecstatic! It’s rare for someone who hasn’t even officially released a debut album to get a closing spot on the AMAs, let alone any major award show. This was going to be something special.

As the hours went by, my excitement grew and grew until finally it was time. Five minutes later, I was left in a state of speechlessness and terror.
